Chicago P.D. Fans Theorize Who Could Be A Worthy Successor To Voight — HN

Numbers-wise, Chicago cop show “Chicago P.D.” is an unqualified success, lasting for more than 180 episodes across nine seasons and counting (via IMDb). Naturally, over the course of such a formidable run, “Chicago P.D.” has changed in ways both major and minor since its earliest days.

For instance, Season 9, Episode 14 revolves around a murder investigation that leads to Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) uncovering a shocking scene unprecedented in the series’ history. Season 9 also explores a unique working relationship between Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and an informant named Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado), bringing a character dynamic to the show’s forefront that significantly deepens Voight’s character in a new way.

This isn’t the only manner in which Voight changes along with the series — Beghe once recounted how he’s constantly expanding his understanding of his character and bringing new findings to his performance. Given Voight’s prominent and dynamic role, “Chicago P.D.” would be irrevocably changed should Berghe ever decide to leave. Here’s what some users online think might happen should that ever become a reality.

Fans are divided on who might best replace Voight as Sergeant

On the official subreddit for “Chicago P.D.” fans, user PAACDA2 started a thread titled “Who do you think will take the unit over of Voight was ever to retire or worse, die or not be able to work?” in which they explore a couple of answers to the question they posted. In short, they think that, while Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) may be Voight’s top choice, he might not do as good of a job as his predecessor in this hypothetical leadership role. Instead, they find Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) more suited to the job.

User Person_Somewhere_Aus, meanwhile, suggested that “Chicago P.D.” can’t continue without Voight before proposing a few-episodes-long trial run in which Jay temporarily becomes leader. User InfamousClock7287 agreed that Voight is irreplaceable, but suggested instead that a new actor might be brought on in lieu of an internal promotion.

Currently, Beghe seems committed to his “Chicago P.D.” role, making such speculation purely hypothetical for the time being. In fact, as recently as December 2021, producer Gwen Sigan told TVLine that a major plot development “will spark some attempts at change” for Voight as the series continues with him as its central team’s leader.

Why Chicago Fire Fans Are So Divided Over Matt Casey — HN

Dick Wolf’s “One Chicago” franchise has been a cornerstone for NBC since “Chicago Fire” introduced viewers to the Windy City emergency services universe in 2012. “Chicago P.D.” debuted in 2014, and “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Justice” followed in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Because they are part of a shared universe, the most prominent actors on each show semi-routinely appear in their sister series.

For example, Jesse Spencer, the actor who led “Chicago Fire” as firefighter Matt Casey for the better part of 10 seasons, also appeared in four episodes of “Chicago Med” and two episodes of “Chicago P.D.” (via IMDb). In “Chicago Fire” Season 10, Episode 6 (“Dead Zone”), Casey moves to Oregon to take care of the sons of his deceased colleague Andrew Darden (Corey Sorenson). Spencer’s departure was a big shock to the franchise at the time of its announcement.

In an interview, the actor told TVLine that he considered Casey’s exit a “perfect full-circle [moment] and a really reasonable way for Casey to, organically, leave the show.” Notably, the actor also promised that he remained open to returning to the franchise at some point in the future. “There is the potential for me to come back,” Spencer said. “I still am in Chicago right now. I’m not running off to Los Angeles or anything … I’m just stepping back for right now.”

Unsurprisingly, Deadline confirmed in April that Spencer will return for the Season 10 finale. However, based on a notable Reddit thread, not all fans of “Chicago Fire” will be excited to see the character reappear so soon.

One Reddit thread claims Casey is the worst character on Chicago Fire

On the r/ChicagoFireNBC subreddit, u/chickenfriednoods posted, “Matt Casey is the worst character. I just cannot stand his attitude … He is immature and a hot head who takes his issues out on all other members of the firehouse.” The post prompted dozens of comments from viewers chiming in with their own widely varying opinions about the character who led the show for a decade. U/Givemeamop commented, “[I] could not agree more. Condescending. Has all the answers. Sucks up to the chief. Looks like a little kid but acts like an old man.”

However, not everyone who contributed to the thread was anti-Casey. In the thread’s most upvoted comment, u/KimGrennan wrote, “[In my opinion,] the man is no saint. But he’s hardly the worst character. Most of the time, he’s very loyal and the way he puts the people’s needs in front of his own is very commendable.” Some were also quick to point out Casey’s bravery and others called for sympathy for a man who has suffered a great deal of on-the-job trauma. “Bro, the man was almost shot in the head, cut some slack,” wrote u/DomNessMonster07. “When everything’s going well and he isn’t almost dying he’s a great guy, always has his men and women’s backs.

Other viewers appeared to ride solidly in the middle of the road when it comes to Casey. For example, u/RinardoEvoris wrote, “He’s mayonnaise on a sandwich … Most network shows pick these bland-ish generic good looking guys and write bland-ish characters for them.”

Regardless of whether most viewers are hot, cold, or lukewarm on Casey, the character’s upcoming return seems sure to have an enormous impact.

Donnie Wahlberg Had Blue Bloods Fans Flipping Out Over This Behind-The-Scenes Moment — HN

“Blue Bloods” fans are incredibly loyal to the Friday night police procedural. They love the close connection between the Reagan siblings, adore the way the show goes about explaining the crimes at hand and then bringing the criminals in question to justice, and enjoy the various relationships the Reagans try to foster with the cast of engaging supporting players.

One of the show’s most well-known faces is that of Donnie Wahlberg, who portrays the driven and loyal Danny Reagan on the program. The actor often takes the time to interact with fans of the show on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, and the “Blue Bloods” faithful seem to love this personal approach. One particular recent post the actor made to his social media captured a fun behind-the-scenes moment that had fans of both the show and one of Wahlberg’s old projects in a lather of excitement. What did Wahlberg post to hype up his fanbase?

Bridget Moynahan’s New Kids on the Block shirt thrilled fans

On March 20, 2022, Donnie Wahlberg shared a video on his Instagram account of a dress rehearsal for a Reagan family Sunday dinner on the “Blue Bloods” set. In the post, co-star Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan, can be seen sporting a New Kids on the Block tee-shirt. Wahlberg, naturally, rocketed to fame as part of the boy band in the late 1980s. In the video, Moynahan cheerfully dances and mugs for the camera as Wahlberg films her, with the camera eventually panning to an amused Tom Selleck (who plays Frank Regan) looking on nearby. The audio on the post has been replaced by music from the band AC/DC.

“Not sure it gets more epic than @bridgetmoynahan wearing @nkotb t shirt to #family #sunday #dinner scene — but #ACDC def made it more epic!” Wahlberg captioned the video.

Fans commenting on Wahlberg’s post loved this little tidbit of behind-the-scenes tomfoolery, as well as Moynahan’s support for her colleague’s band. “That’s my girl!! Of course she does. She knows what’s cool!” said lastuntgal. “Family scenes are my favorite, looks like you guys have even more fun making them,” remarked nedakiss. And michelekastler ultimately spoke for many when they said, “Bridget wins the internet today!!!”

Of course, some fans also really wanted to know where they could get the shirt. “You know @donniewahlberg everyone is going to want to know where @bridgetmoynahan got her shirt from!!” said lexipie81.

Wahlberg has referenced New Kids on the Block on Blue Bloods before

While the tee-shirt clearly won’t be making it onto “Blue Bloods” itself, Bridget Moynahan isn’t the only “Blue Bloods” cast member to make a notable New Kids on the Block reference. Donnie Wahlberg himself occasionally slips dialogue about his boy band past into the series’ scripts while in character as Danny.

“The first season I snuck a New Kids On The Block [song] title in every episode … So I would tell, like Bridget’s character, ‘Hey, hang tough’ and ‘Call It What You Want,’ ‘Step by Step’ … I was speaking in song titles pretty much every episode and nobody was really catching it because of the way I did it. But my music fans and the [NKOTB] fans definitely were catching it. And every week they would hashtag whatever the song title was,” the actor told Showbiz Cheat Sheet in 2019.

There have also been other brief references to the actor’s musical career on the show, such as a moment where Danny is invited to participate in a night of karaoke during the Season 12 premiere, but never performs onscreen. The actor’s bandmate, Jordan Knight, also had a brief cameo on the program as a criminal in the Season 1 episode “Model Behavior.” According to Wahlberg’s Showbiz Cheat Sheet interview, he’s looking to get other members of his band on the show in due time.

And two of Wahlberg’s “Blue Bloods” co-stars – Vanessa Ray, who plays Eddie Janko, and Marisa Ramirez, who plays Maria Baez — returned the favor, appearing in New Kids on the Block’s music video for their 2022 single “Bring Back the Time” (per YouTube).

How Blue Bloods Sets Up Season 13, Multiple Plots Will Impact Characters for Years to Come — HN

Blue Bloods explored some rich storylines for the Reagan family in Season 12. What might fans of the CBS series be able to expect in Season 13?

CBS’s hit police drama Blue Bloods recently finished Season 12 with a huge finale. Season 12, Episode 20, “Silver Linings” had a slew of plotlines for the Reagan family to follow when the series returns for Season 13. Several CBS series have planned emotional finales, but the Blue Bloods episode was clearly setting the long-running show up for some big changes inside and outside the family.

With Erin Reagan and Maria Baez having made some huge decisions in “Silver Linings,” everyone in the Reagans’ world is going to have to adapt during Season 13. Blue Bloods is known for its blend of family stories and police drama, and the upcoming season will be more of the same. Characters have both personal and professional choices to make when the show returns.

As Season 12 came to an end, Frank Reagan finally brought his dispute with the District Attorney’s Office to a head by publicly announcing his displeasure with D.A. Crawford’s new policy to not prosecute non-violent crimes. His daughter Erin subsequently announced her candidacy for District Attorney. Audiences can look forward to watching Erin campaign and fight her way through the election process. Erin’s candidacy may also spell conflict for Frank — both in his role as Police Commissioner and because he’s spoken out against the District Attorney’s Office many times in the past.

Another development that audiences can expect to see in the upcoming season is Henry Reagan’s unfortunate cancer diagnosis. In Season 12, Episode 19, “Tangled Up in Blue,” Henry was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In Season 13, viewers will certainly see Henry’s struggle through this difficult journey and how it affects the rest of the Reagan family. They’ll want to support Henry, but particularly with Erin and Frank now both heavily in the public eye, those two characters in particular might have problems with work-life management and being there for Henry as much as they’d like.

Outside of the Reagans, Blue Bloods fans will be able to look forward to more of Baez’s personal life. In the Season 12 finale, Baez stepped up to adopt an unclaimed newborn child from a previous case. Her partner Danny Reagan, played by The Masked Singer alum Donnie Wahlberg, immediately supported the idea of Baez becoming a mother and now the show has a lot to explore with the concept. Danny himself has been on his own since his wife Linda died several seasons ago, so will he give extra support to his partner as she goes down a similar road?

Many shows begin to lose steam as they head into double digits, or at least shake things up; CBS viewers have seen that with NCIS’ many cast changes (and one that might still be happening). Blue Bloods’ Season 12 finale was a strong attempt to refresh the series by setting up plots that will impact characters for years to come. When the Reagan family returns, they’ll have a lot to discuss around the dinner table.

“That’s not me…”Jesse Spencer Responds To Those Leaked Chicago Fire Finale Images — HN

Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) has been a fixture on “Chicago Fire” ever since the very first episode. Originally starting off as a lieutenant for the first six seasons, Casey is eventually promoted to captain and leads the Truck unit. The character is usually quite reserved about his personal life, and his coworkers know better than to ask or pry. However, even though he tends to bury his emotions and problems far away from his superiors, subordinates, and friends, he is still well respected and loved.

In the current season, Casey makes some decisions regarding responsibilities that see him relocate far away from his compatriots and girlfriend Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). Although they have maintained their relationship over the long distance, the character of Casey has not really been present for the normal trials and tribulations of “Chicago Fire.” Fans have wondered when Casey may return to the show, and a recent leaked photograph shows him on set. This has caused the actor to break his hiatus on Twitter to respond, and it looks like he’s taking this particular leak in stride.

Spencer jokes the image isn’t him because his hair isn’t combed like that

Having been absent from Twitter since October of last year, Jesse Spencer came back to respond to a leaked image of his character in a suit and on a boat. The actor glibly commented on the leak, “That’s not me…I think it’s Casey’s long lost bro or something. My hair don’t do that.” Although the image is clearly the actor, he poked fun at how his hair is finely combed and joked that it must be his character’s lookalike. Still, it certainly would be a massive curveball in “Chicago Fire” if Spencer’s attempt at deflection proved to be true.

At this point, it is pretty much an open secret that Spencer will come back to his role before Season 10 finishes, and even the plot synopsis on IMDb for the final episode spoils his return. Spencer has said in the past that he wanted to take a break from the show, but it looks like he’ll be back before the season is even over. How Casey and Sylvie Brett’s relationship will play out after this point is anybody’s guess, but it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Captain Casey.

Is Vanessa Ray leaving ‘Blue Bloods’? Here’s an Update! — HN

Even though there are tons of law enforcement shows to obsess over, Blue Bloods is considered a fan favorite compared to its competition. It premiered in 2010 and has gone on for 12 successful seasons so far starring Tom Selleck in the leading role of Frank Reagan.

The show is about a New York City police commissioner who is also the patriarch of his multigenerational family of cops. Each of his family members goes through different trials and tribulations throughout every season of the show. Somehow, they’re all able to stick together no matter what. Vanessa Ray plays Eddie Janko; however, some recent drama on the show is making fans question her character’s longevity. Is she leaving?

Is Vanessa Ray leaving ‘Blue Bloods’? She plays Eddie on the show.
As of now, there is no official announcement about Vanessa parting ways with Blue Bloods. The reason fans are concerned about her possible departure is that in Season 12, Episode 14, she was exposed during her undercover mission. She was in the middle of an important investigation for NYPD’s Special Victims Unit, but an acquaintance gave her away completely.

Since her assignment is over, does that mean she’s leaving the show entirely? It turns out she’s most likely going to remain a cast member on Blue Bloods regardless of what happened with her undercover mission.

Does Vanessa Ray have other movie or TV show projects to focus on coming up?
According to Vanessa’s IMDb, she doesn’t have any upcoming shows or movies to focus on. That means it’s easy for her to dedicate her time and attention to playing Eddie on Blue Bloods for the foreseeable future. A quick scroll through Vanessa’s Instagram shows that most of the pics she posts are with her Blue Bloods co-stars. Her dedication to the show speaks volumes about her future as part of the cast.

What about Vanessa Ray’s Instagram caption?

In March 2022, Vanessa posted a series of photos on set with some of her Blue Bloods co-stars. She added a caption saying, “Thankful for the many blessings Season 12 has brought me. Love to our cast and crew. Thank you all for watching.”

Some fans might read a caption like that and assume it was Vanessa’s way of saying she’s totally finished filming the show forever. It turns out she’s simply finished filming Season 12.

To drive that point home, she added, “#Lucky13, here we come,” which leads viewers to believe she is still going to be part of the upcoming 13th season in the role of Eddie. According to Country Living, CBS confirmed that Blue Bloods will most certainly be returning for its 13th season.

Details about when the 13th season will premiere haven’t been released just yet, but it’s good to know that it’s definitely coming. There are a lot of unfinished storylines that need to be resolved. One of those important storylines revolves around Eddie’s character, so it’s good to know Vanessa is sticking around for the long haul.

You can watch new episodes of Blue Bloods on Fridays at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.

Meet the Latest ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Guest Star — He and Benson Have a Complex Relationship — HN

We’re in the 23rd season of Law and Order: SVU, but it’s still going strong. As our favorite characters finally seem to get a handle on their lives, other characters keep coming back to make a mess of things. And one of those characters is Burton Lowe. While he’s definitely not a favorite character in the series, his storyline was left with some loose ends.

Now, he’s back to make amends … or to wreak some more havoc. Burton Lowe is infamous for one character in particular: Olivia Benson. So what is Burton’s relationship to Benson, and who is the man behind the character?

Burton Lowe and Olivia Benson have a long history in ‘Law and Order: SVU.’
Although we don’t actually meet Burton Lowe until “The Five Hundredth Episode,” we’ve heard quite a bit about him up until that point. Basically, he and Olivia were engaged to be married when she was only 16 and he was 21.

It was a confusing time for Olivia, so being forced to face it years later was always going to be complicated.

In his first episode, we learn that he was actually accused of s**ual a**ault and grooming several young girls, but he wasn’t charged with anything. This made Olivia realize that her relationship with him was also not consensual.

While she has no desire to see him again, he comes back in that episode to try to make amends with Benson. She believes him, but Fin and Carisi are skeptical. Benson does get the closure she needed from Burton, though.

However, now Burton is back. While Carisi never liked Burton, Burton has also been an NYPD captain for two decades, and Carisi needs Burton’s help. Carisi’s worried that his friend is in trouble, and it seems like Burton may be the only person who can help.

Burton Lowe is played by Aidan Quinn on ‘Law and Order: SVU.’
Even if SVU fans don’t remember Aidan’s Burton from “The Five Hundredth Episode,” he might be recognizable for other reasons. Aidan Quinn is a prolific actor who’s been in hundreds of projects over the course of his three-decade career. Some of his early roles were as Johnny Rourke in Reckless and Dez in Desperately Seeking Susan.

More recently, however, he played Captain Thomas Gregson in Elementary and Lieutenant Kevin Sweeney in Prime Suspect. Seems like Aidan is the perfect guy to play a police officer since many of his roles have been some type of law enforcement. Funnily enough, he was actually in a 2007 episode of Law and Order: SVU as a completely different character, Ben Nicholson.

But with over 500 episodes, it’s not surprising that some of the guest cast has been recycled. Regardless, let’s hope Benson doesn’t have to face Burton Lowe anymore.

Law and Order: SVU airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.

‘Magnum P.I.’ Canceled After 4 Seasons at CBS — HN

CBS is not proceeding with a fifth season of Magnum P.I. Aside from Bull, which announced in January that its current sixth season will be its last, Magnum P.I. is the most established CBS series to be canceled this season. As a Top 25 show in total viewers, it also may be the most watched broadcast series to get the axe this upfront season.

A reboot of the 1980s drama, which starred Tom Selleck, the new Magnum P.I., headlined by Jay Hernandez , was a rare broadcast drama with a Latino lead. Its cancellation came after lengthy and complex talks between CBS and lead studio Universal Television, which also is behind CBS’ FBI franchise and The Equalizer. Following tough negotiations, the other four series, which are among CBS’ top ratings performers, received multi-season renewals.

I hear Magnum P.I.’s cancellation was a business decision after the two sides could not come to an agreement on the license fee as lower overall linear ratings have been pushing down on what networks are willing to spend on shows. The problem is most pronounced when a series comes from an outside studio as is the case with Magnum P.I.

Also likely factoring into the decision to cancel Magnum P.I. is the strength of CBS’ crop of drama pilots this season, which put additional pressure on the hourlong bubble series.

Magnum P.I. follows Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), a private investigator and former Navy SEAL, who solves crimes in the state, after returning home from Afghanistan and repurposing his military skills.

Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill also starred. The show’s fourth and final season wrapped its run May 6.

The series is based on the 1980s drama created by Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson. Eric Guggenheim, Justin Lin, John Davis, John Fox, and Danielle Woodrow are executive producers.

Matt Casey Won’t Be The Only Surprise Guest On Chicago Fire’s Season 10 Finale — HN

It was the departure no one saw coming. Jesse Spencer left “Chicago Fire” mid-way through Season 10, bringing an end to Matt Casey’s storyline in the drama series. Casey is mentioned from time to time, as he and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) are still a couple who are battling the issues that come with being in a long-distance relationship. Many fans believed Spencer might come back for the highly-anticipated Stellaride wedding, which is set to take place during the Season 10 finale, as Casey promised Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) he’d be his best man. Deadline confirmed the news that Spencer would guest star in the finale, but fans shouldn’t expect him to appear in Season 11.

Deadline is also reporting that Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) will not be at the Stellaride wedding. Raymund departed “Chicago Fire” after Season 6 but had one-episode appearances in Season 7 and Season 8. Some fans thought Gabby might show up for her close friend Stella Kidd’s (Monica Ray Mayo) wedding, but for unknown reasons that won’t be happening.

The good news is, we know another special guest will show up for the Stellaride wedding, meaning there is much to look forward to come May 25.

At least one more surprise guest will be at the Stellaride wedding

“Chicago Fire” showrunner Derek Haas told Variety that fans can expect someone other than Matt Casey to appear in the Season 10 finale. “The wedding is not going to go as planned. Plus, there’ll be at least one surprise guest at the wedding besides Jesse. It became a matter of how many people could we get in one day availability-wise, so we put together a wish list,” Haas noted. Co-showrunner Andrea Newman said they tried to get a handful of guest stars for the Stellaride wedding but couldn’t confirm how many would be showing up. “We had kind of endless wish list that went on pages, but that being said, we also have all these twists and turns in the wedding itself. People that we wanted to get there might not make it,” Newman admitted.

Fans of “Chicago Fire” have been vocal about who they want to appear at the Stellaride wedding. Some of the big names being floated around include Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett), Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh), and Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae). There’s also hope the Stellaride wedding serves as a “One Chicago” crossover event. Whether “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.” characters show up remains to be seen, but we’ll be crossing our fingers.

‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 Episode 20 Hints at Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek Getting Back Together — HN

NBC’s Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 20 featured more of Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess. While it seemed like the couple may be on the fast track to getting back together, Makayla’s kidnapping threw their relationship for a loop. Now, they’re back to living apart. But the episode may have hinted that there’s still hope for their romance to blossom.

[Spoiler alert: Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 20, “Memory,” spoilers ahead.]

What happened with Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess? They had plans to move in together

Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess have a long relationship history. The on-again, off-again couple has gone through pregnancy, an engagement, and multiple breakups since Chicago P.D. Season 1. Now, in Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 20, new issues are at the forefront.

Ruzek and Burgess made plans to move in together so they could both assist in raising Burgess’s daughter, Makayla. But Makayla’s kidnapping earlier in season 9 resulted in yet another rift between Ruzek and Burgess. The exes didn’t communicate well during the emergency, as they disagreed on how to find the child. Now that Makayla’s back home safe, there’s still emotional distance between Ruzek and Burgess.

In episode 19, Ruzek goes undercover to track down a drug dealer, and he rents out an old apartment as a result. He ultimately ends up abandoning his plans to stay with Burgess and Makayla full-time. Instead, he stays in the apartment he rented out as part of his drug-busting scheme.

‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 Episode 20 hints at the exes getting back together

Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess still have a long way to go before they can solidly co-parent Makayla under one roof. But Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 20 seemed to hint that the exes would make it work eventually.

Burgess tells Ruzek at the beginning of the episode that she still plans on renting out the three-bedroom apartment they looked at — but it’s just for her and Makayla. By the end of the episode, Ruzek has a better idea. He wants to purchase his father’s home and give it to Makayla and Burgess to live in full-time. Ruzek suggests the change of scenery would greatly benefit Makayla after her kidnapping, and he also verifies he doesn’t plan to live in the home with them.

“You can’t buy me a house,” Burgess tells Ruzek at first.

“Why not?” he answers. “I get it, we’re not perfect right now. I get that. But, why not this? Kim, she might remember. Either way, we can give her all the best memories in the world to protect her from that. We can give her that here, together. Why not?”

Adam Ruzek actor Patrick John Flueger believes they’ll end up together

If Adam Ruzek really does buy Kim Burgess and Makayla his father’s house, then we’re willing to bet he moves in with them soon afterward, reigniting his romance with Burgess. Ruzek actor Patrick John Flueger also still has hope that Burgess and Ruzek are endgame.

“Will they? Won’t they? Well, they will, but not going to in the way that you think they’re going to,” Flueger told Us Weekly. “I think at the end of the day, they’ll end up together, but I don’t think it’s an easy road to get there.”

Whether the exes make another attempt at a romance or not, Flueger also noted Makayla and Burgess are “everything” to Ruzek. “That’s the be all, end all,” he added. “When I go and I read a script, when I read these stories, that’s all it is. It’s just them.”

Chicago P.D. Season 9 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
